Intensity vs. Impact!!! No Shame in the Game!!!

These two terms are often used together or interchangeably in the fitness industry, but they are pretty different. This course will clarify the definitions of both terms and explore multiple ways to increase and decrease intensity levels during group fitness classes or while working with clients. We will experience these intensity levels and gain a complete understanding of how it feels in our bodies. Most importantly, we will focus on ways to engage and encourage our participants/clients to work with intensity levels that are the most beneficial to them with no guilt or shame.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define the difference between intensity and impact, specifically high intensity and high impact. 

  2. Learn different ways to increase and decrease intensity for class/clients without completely changing the exercise to modify. 

  3. Explore creative ways to vary our vocabulary to be inclusive and encouraging during our classes.
